Frequently Asked Nail Salon Questions

How do I know which nail service is right for me?

The best service depends on your natural nails, desired length, lifestyle, and maintenance preferences. If you’re unsure what to book, our nail professionals will be happy to recommend the best option for you.

What’s the difference between builder gel, Gel-X, dip powder, and acrylic?

Builder gel adds strength and structure to natural nails and can typically be maintained with fills. Gel-X uses full-cover soft gel tips for instant length, dip powder creates a durable coating using acrylic powder, and acrylic provides maximum strength and flexibility for customized length and shape.

How often should I get my nails done?

Most nail enhancements are maintained every 2–3 weeks, depending on how quickly your nails grow, your lifestyle, and the type of service you receive.

What will I do if I want to buy a gift card?

Our physical gift cards are available at our location of 64 Powell Rd, Lewis Center, OH 43035. We also offer e-gift cards. You can purchase through our website.

How long do gel, dip, builder gel, and acrylic nails last?

Most services can look beautiful for approximately 2–3 weeks before maintenance is recommended. Longevity varies based on nail growth, lifestyle, natural nail condition, and aftercare.

Do I need an appointment?

Appointments are highly recommended to ensure your preferred service, time, and nail technician are available. Walk-ins are welcome and accommodated whenever availability allows.

What should I do if my nail chips or breaks?

Please contact us as soon as possible. Our team will assess the nail and determine the best repair option based on your service and the condition of the nail.

How can I make my nails last longer?

Use cuticle oil regularly, wear gloves when cleaning or working with chemicals, avoid using your nails as tools, and never pick or peel off nail enhancements. Proper aftercare can make a significant difference in how well your nails wear.

What is builder gel?

Builder gel is a thicker, structured gel designed to add strength, support, and durability to your natural nails. It helps create a smooth, beautifully shaped nail while maintaining a lightweight and natural-looking finish.

Who is builder gel best for?

Builder gel is ideal for clients who want to strengthen and grow their natural nails, especially those who experience bending, peeling, or frequent breakage. It’s also a great choice for anyone who prefers a structured, natural-looking manicure.

What’s the difference between builder gel and dip powder?

Builder gel is a gel-based system that creates strength and structure and can typically be maintained with fills. Dip powder uses an acrylic powder system and is generally removed and reapplied when changing sets. Builder gel is especially popular with clients who want to maintain and grow their natural nails.

Can builder gel be filled?

Yes. Builder gel can typically be maintained by filling the new-growth area instead of completely removing the product at every appointment. This makes it a great option for clients who want ongoing maintenance while growing their natural nails.

Can builder gel add length?

Yes. Builder gel can be applied over natural nails or used with extensions when additional length is desired. Your nail technician can recommend the best option based on your natural nails and desired length.

How long does builder gel last?

Builder gel typically lasts about 2–3 weeks before a fill or maintenance appointment is recommended. Longevity depends on your nail growth, lifestyle, natural nail condition, and aftercare.

Do I need to remove builder gel at every appointment?

Usually, no. If the existing product is still in good condition, your nail technician can file and rebalance the enhancement before filling the new-growth area. A complete removal may occasionally be recommended depending on the condition of the product or natural nail.

How should I care for builder gel nails?

Apply cuticle oil regularly, wear gloves when cleaning or using chemicals, and avoid using your nails as tools. Never pick, peel, or forcefully remove builder gel, as this can damage the natural nail underneath.

What are Gel-X extensions?

Gel-X is a soft gel extension system that uses full-cover gel tips to add instant length and shape. The tips are lightweight, flexible, and available in a variety of lengths and shapes for a natural-looking finish.

Who is Gel-X best for?

Gel-X is ideal for clients who want instant length and beautifully shaped nails without traditional acrylic. It’s especially popular for clients who enjoy changing their length, shape, or design from set to set.

How long does Gel-X last?

Gel-X typically lasts about 2–3 weeks, depending on your natural nail growth, lifestyle, and aftercare.

What’s the difference between Gel-X and acrylic?

Gel-X uses pre-shaped full-cover soft gel tips, while acrylic is sculpted using liquid monomer and acrylic powder. Gel-X feels lightweight and provides instant shape, while acrylic offers greater customization and strength.

What’s the difference between Gel-X and builder gel?

Builder gel is primarily used to add strength and structure to natural nails and can typically be maintained with fills. Gel-X uses full-cover tips to create instant length and is replaced with a new set rather than filled at Elodie.

Does Gel-X damage natural nails?

When properly applied and professionally removed, Gel-X can be worn while maintaining healthy natural nails. Picking or peeling the extensions off can damage the nail underneath.

How do I remove Gel-X?

Professional removal is recommended. Please avoid peeling or pulling the extensions off, as doing so can remove layers of your natural nail.

What are dip powder nails?

Dip powder is a durable nail enhancement system that combines a bonding liquid with finely milled acrylic powder to create strength, color, and long-lasting wear.

How long does dip powder last?

Dip powder typically lasts about 2–3 weeks, depending on nail growth, lifestyle, natural nail condition, and aftercare.

Is dip powder stronger than gel polish?

Yes. Dip powder generally provides more strength and thickness than regular gel polish, making it a popular option for clients who want additional durability.

What’s the difference between dip powder and builder gel?

Dip powder uses an acrylic-based powder system to create a durable coating over the nail. Builder gel is a structured gel that provides strength and support and can typically be maintained with fills.

Can dip powder add length?

Yes. Extensions can be added when additional length is desired. Your nail technician can recommend the appropriate service based on the look you want.

Do you fill dip powder nails?

Dip powder is generally removed and reapplied rather than maintained like a traditional acrylic or builder gel fill.

How should dip powder be removed?

Professional removal is recommended. Never peel or pry dip powder from your nails, as this can remove layers of the natural nail and cause damage.

What are acrylic nails?

Acrylic nails are created using liquid monomer and acrylic powder to build strong, durable nail enhancements. Acrylic can be customized for different lengths, shapes, and styles.

Who is acrylic best for?

Acrylic is an excellent choice for clients who want added length, strong structure, dramatic shapes, or highly customizable nail enhancements.

How long do acrylic nails last?

Acrylic can be maintained long-term with regular fills. Most clients return approximately every 2–3 weeks depending on natural nail growth and lifestyle.

Can acrylic nails be filled?

Yes. If the existing enhancement is in good condition, the new-growth area can usually be filled and the structure rebalanced instead of removing the entire set.

What’s the difference between acrylic and Gel-X?

Acrylic is sculpted using liquid and powder, allowing extensive customization of length and structure. Gel-X uses pre-shaped full-cover soft gel tips and offers a lighter-feeling alternative for instant length.

Can I change my color during an acrylic fill?

Yes. Your existing acrylic can usually be rebalanced and finished with a new color or design during your fill appointment.

How should acrylic nails be removed?

Professional removal is strongly recommended. Never pull, peel, or pry acrylic from your natural nails, as this can cause significant damage.

What is included in a manicure?

The exact steps depend on the manicure selected but may include nail shaping, cuticle care, hand care, massage, and polish. Please review the individual service description when booking for specific inclusions.

What’s the difference between regular polish and gel polish?

Regular polish air-dries and can be removed easily with traditional nail polish remover. Gel polish is cured under an LED/UV lamp and provides longer-lasting color and shine.

How long does a gel manicure last?

A gel manicure typically lasts around 2–3 weeks, although wear varies depending on natural nail growth, lifestyle, nail condition, and aftercare.

What’s the difference between a gel manicure and Luminary Gel?

A gel manicure uses gel polish primarily for long-lasting color and shine. Luminary Gel is a thicker structured gel that adds additional strength and support to the natural nail.

Who should choose Luminary Gel?

Luminary Gel is a great option for clients who want more strength than traditional gel polish while maintaining a natural-looking manicure.

Should I remove gel polish at home?

Professional removal is recommended. Picking or peeling gel polish can remove layers of your natural nail and leave it thin or damaged.

What is included in a pedicure?

Inclusions vary depending on the pedicure you select. Services may include nail shaping, cuticle care, exfoliation, massage, hot towels, masks, and specialty treatments.

Which pedicure should I choose?

Choose based on how much maintenance, treatment, and relaxation you want. If you’re unsure, our team will be happy to help you select the experience that best fits your preferences.

How often should I get a pedicure?

Many clients schedule pedicures every 3–4 weeks, although frequency varies depending on nail growth, lifestyle, season, and personal preference.

How long does gel polish last on toes?

Gel polish on toenails often lasts several weeks because toenails generally grow more slowly and experience less daily wear than fingernails.

Can I get a pedicure if I have a cut or infection?

For your safety and the safety of our team, we may not be able to perform a service when there are open wounds, active infections, or certain other conditions. We may recommend waiting until the area has healed or consulting a healthcare professional.

Should I shave before my pedicure?

We recommend avoiding shaving your legs immediately before a pedicure, as shaving can create tiny skin abrasions and increase sensitivity.

Why can nails chip, lift, or break?

Nail enhancements are durable but not indestructible. Wear can be affected by natural nail condition, length, lifestyle, exposure to water or chemicals, impact, picking, and how the nails are used after your appointment.

How can I make my nails last longer?

Apply cuticle oil regularly, wear gloves when cleaning or working with chemicals, avoid using your nails as tools, and be mindful of activities that place excessive pressure on your nails.

What should I do if my nail chips or breaks?

Please contact us as soon as possible with details about the issue. Our team can assess the nail and determine the appropriate repair based on your service and the condition of the nail.

Do you guarantee nail services?

We want you to enjoy your nails and offer a limited repair window for eligible service issues. Because chips and breaks can occur for many reasons after leaving the salon, please contact us promptly so we can evaluate the situation.

How long is your nail repair window?

Our repair policy varies by service. Eligible issues with nail services may be considered within up to 10 days. Please contact us as soon as you notice a problem so our team can assist you.

Can I remove my nail enhancements at home?

We strongly recommend professional removal. Picking, peeling, cutting, or forcefully removing enhancements can damage your natural nails.

What happens if I am late for my appointment?

Please contact us if you’re running late. Depending on how late you arrive and our schedule, we may need to modify your service or reschedule your appointment so we do not delay the guests scheduled after you.

Do you accept walk-ins?

Walk-ins are welcome. Appointments are recommended if you prefer a specific technician, service, date, or time.

What if I’m not sure what service to book?

Choose the service that seems closest to what you want, or contact us for guidance. Our team can help determine the best option based on your natural nails, desired look, and maintenance preferences.

Do you require deposits?

A deposit may be required for certain appointments, including large group bookings or other reservations requiring significant appointment time. Any applicable deposit requirements will be communicated when arranging the appointment.

What is your cancellation policy?

We understand that plans can change. Please provide as much notice as possible when canceling or rescheduling so we can offer the appointment time to another guest. Applicable cancellation or deposit policies may vary depending on the reservation.
